Despite the Long Distance

I don't know what compelled me to click on Nikki’s profile and send her a message, but it turned out to be one of the best dating decisions I’ve ever made. She was from New York and her profile had one simple line: "Date me~ I'm amazing”. This was my first time doing online dating so I wasn’t set on finding a romantic relationship. I just thought it would be nice to make a new friend in New York.

At first, we chatted through the website and spent time getting to know each other. But it was when she replied in old English that she really sparked my attention. It was a quirk that stuck out to me and of course, I responded back in old English. That was the real icebreaker because from then on, we started having more open and interesting conversations. We soon found ourselves on the phone with each other every night and that finally led to us actually meeting face to face. After I had to cancel on her once because of a work conflict Nikki decided to take charge and made a huge effort on her part to coordinate so that we could meet.

This was my first time meeting somebody from an online dating site so naturally, I was nervous. Even though we spoke on the phone every night, I can’t put into words how nervous I was about meeting her for the first time. I paced back and forth; I told my friends about how nervous I was. But in the end, meeting her in person was all worth it. We spent our time together walking around the city, doing everything from going to a fancy restaurant to picking up her favorite fast food.

When I joined EME Hive, I was just looking to meet different people and make some new friends, but it turned out to be so much more than that for me. The simple layout of the site made it really easy for me to make that first connection with Nikki, and as you can see, it paid off. I don’t know about other dating websites, but I can say from my experience with EME Hive that it’s very user-friendly and has great features that make it easy for people to connect and communicate.
